Farming Any one?

It's fun because at least once a year I get to go into the classroom and give a speal on farming. From getting the field ready to the loaf of bread that you take home from the store and all the good stuff in between. No, I don't promote whole wheat bread. It's Wonder bread and John Deere all the way baby!

I HAVE A WORKING CAMERA

So, after a little Drama, my very oh so nice Sista sent me a camera so I'd stop whining about not having a one. There is truly nothing like have a fabulous sister. Truly. Especially one that had to buy two cause the first one got lost in the mail. And what do you think was the first thing I took a picture of? A Wrangler butt that kept walking by!

Stewart Family Party/Walter's 91st

What a fun night! Sam was sick so It was just little ole me representing the Sam side of the Fam. Here's some misc. pictures as the night went on.

MISC. FYI

So, a couple things...
**My sister sent me a new digital camera cause my camera won't work, AND... it got stolen in the mail. I couldn't believe it! Truly.
**We have beautiful snow this morning (it's beauty cause I don't have to drive in it!) and I can't take a picture. Ho hum.
**I'm on Face Book and loving it. That's a fun little addiction right there!
**We took Halloween down and put up Thanksgiving at my house. And that gives the radio and Walmart the right to play Christmas songs already? Say what?!?? No. No, it doesn't. Well, apparently it does. Cause they are. 24/7
**Eggs cost to much.
**We had a family theme for Halloween and I couldn't take pic's. They didn't take pic's at the ward party either. sigh. Cowboys and Indian. I love my husband in his cowboy get up. Grrrrr.
**Next week will be long. Sam's having his rotator cuff surgery that will take him out for 6 weeks on Monday and Jackson has his teeth pulled Wed. morning. And that's just the tip. sigh.
**I have fabulous friends and family to pick up my pieces when my best just isn't gonna cut it!

My big Ben

He did great getting his cast off. He was a good trooper the whole time. He's actually had a harder time walking with it off, and trying to get used to all his muscles again, than when he first got the cast on. I think we've made strides on overcoming the Sever's disease. Here's to hoping!!
And why are my picture's small!!

choppin corn

We made a pretty good team. I dug out my old 35mm and bought a battery so I could take a couple pic's. I got back down to the farm and he only had one row left. The "lace" row.
I felt sooo old.
Sam was like a 10 year old with a new bike with that tractor. It was great! We're done and it's in the silage pit. On to the last crop of alfalfa.

Oh for Real

I hate not having a camera. The little taste I got has ruined me forever.
A couple things to note:
*Sam had knee surgery, did well. Acts like an old man sometimes but hey, look who he hangs around with. Meaning, his parents! ... not me!!!
*Ben has had a cast on his right foot and leg for 4 weeks. He has Sever's disease and needed a cast to slow him down . P.S., he hates his mother.
* School is back in and I have my routine back. Praise the Lord! I love love love summer. I love it. but, I have to trade it for my routine that I love too. So it's good to switch back after a while. It's all good.
* I got released from Relief Society President.
* Sam got called into the Bishopric. It's Fabulous. says me.
* I have great classes at school.
* I have a husband that is so stinkin' cute!!! It is time to harvest the corn. He had a guy with a beautiful 6 row~ yes 6 row chopper come and buy his corn. He was grinning from ear to ear. awesome. Man, I love that man.
*We had our annual teacher dinner and it was a great success yet again.
*I'm blessed and highly favored. truly.

Dang it, my Dad fell

Yeah, my sweet mom has been moved to Rehab and she is progressing, but very s l o w l y.
We're hoping to get her stronger and take her home.
But....
Ok, so my momma still has her ugly green bruise on the right side of her forehead and my Dad falls and bangs his head up. So, what do we do? We get out the make-up and do up the grandkids and have a photo shoot.
Left back tall is Devan, Janet's oldest
w/ his arm around Paula, Janet's next w/ Sarah, Janet's last in front of DJ, and Lacey, Bruce's youngest, is back row, right. Front left is Ben, and
Jackson in front of Paula in John Deere green.

Dang it, my Mom fell

Ok, so on my fabulous birthday on Tues. I get a call from my Dad in the afternoon...
"Hey, How's your day?" .... "Fine," I say, and he said
" Well, then let me ruin it for you, yur mom fell and broke her hip."
So, I have my priorities change completely in my . Now she's had hip replacement surgery. Her head bleed in calming down. She is fighting pneumonia and winning, and coming back to being responsive. She stood 3 times today, assisted of coarse, but she's getting a little better every day. It is exhausting I guess, because I come home from the hospital drained every day.
My Dad takes the night shift and I take the day. It's going to be a long ride. I am having a hard time watching my parents grow older. It's interesting to talk thru all this with my own kids and tell them to please make fun of me when I'm old, and find a little humor. But, without hurting my feelings.

That endure to the end scripture is a multi level script. I seriously thought it meant, all the way thru raising my little kids to be self sufficient. Then I thought it surly meant thru the teen years. And I watch my sweet mom and realize it really means the long haul. I'm a little more short sighted than that I guess I'm still thinking the teens.

Pack Night Aug 08

So, just who shows up to our cub scout pack night?
but the oh so manly BYU football players and gives the boys a whoo ra on good sportsmanship. And,
David Nixon #43
did a nice job and gave Bryan Kehl a little jab.
It was funny. And the cute kicker
Mitch Payne
talked about being a good person. So, the Stewart family wore their decked out BYU garb and peppered the boys with questions about next year. It was a really great night!!

Those Mormon boys are so polite!

The 1st 1/2 of Summer '08 well more like ramblings

What a fabulous summer thus far. I hate not having a camera, but I am tired of using that as my excuse for not posting.
So, I will continue jabbering on about summer... it's a hot one in Utah but hasn't really seemed hot until a couple days ago. Weird. Because we haven't had a drop of rain for months (plural!) But I am physically 20 lbs. heavier this summer and yet I feel that much lighter. Weird. I was determined to have a summer to be with my boys. And I have. And I've loved it. Weird. We bought the passes to Seven Peaks. The local water park for those of you not familiar, and we try and go enough to get our monies worth. I like my boys. After seeing what's out there, I like them alot. They are gone on a little fishing/camping trip to Scofield Reservoir. Sam bought the trip at the Scout auction. Uhhh, Scouting, let's not go down that lone and dusty trail. Well, now wait,.... Let's. My opinion of scouting is this. I think the church made the deal with the devil/scouting a long long long time ago and now they can't get out of it.
But, back to the train of thought on the train tracks, I cut my hair short. I realized today that it looks like yours Janet! Why do I always want to be my big sister? Because I just do. We've gone to the Zoo, and again, I really like my own children, the library, and speaking of, why does a trip to the library automatically bring on guilt for a mother? ANy one? I know I should read to my kids more and blah blah blah, I'm a beliver, but I'm not one for guilt, and yet, there it is. Weird. We've had low days and way busy days. We've done our service projects and "Have been anxiosly engaged in a good cause" to help someone out. Mainly Sam. OK and a couple neighbors. Again. I wouldn't trade my boys for anything. Ok, I hope to have a camera soon and put up a couple pic's of the Stewart summer fun.

I Hate Warts, But love Misc.

OK, so last time I had warts taken off my feet it was a little dramatic. 13 off both at one time. So, Monday I go in and have just a couple taken off. But, none the less, it makes me a little whiny. I thought the Grand Canyon was awesome when we were there. But, It feels like it is now in the pad on my left foot. Truly. Whiny.
But...

THE GOOD MISC THINGS IN LAURA STEWART'S LIFE
I got a fabulous hair color with my feet propped up.
I get my nephew Devan for a week. From Oregon.
My cat made it's own pet door in our screen, so I don't have to let it in or out any longer.
I got to go to Cami Buhler (and Travis) baby shower and it was great to see everybody.
We get to go see Wall-E this morning.
My boys mow the lawn for me now. And they do a good job.
AND.... I am no longer PTA president at Westside Elementary. I'm glad I did it. And, I'm glad I'm done and it is moving on to good hands. Ahhhh. (did you hear the sigh of relief as you read it?)

A little about Sammy

You read that title and think I'm really going to write about Sam. Ha, no. We got the hay in! We worked together, with the help of the boys too, and cut it and hauled it all. Ahhhhh. I just can't be the farmer and the wife. Well, I guess I could if that were all, but I still gotta be RSP and Mom and BF and PTA and VTer etc. etc. etc. Add a couple more initials if you'd like:) But, we did get 13 acres of hay off. I was soooo tired. I got a great tan from it all and formed a whole new level of respect for my husband, but over all, we got it done. Yes!
He's healing slower than either of us would like and I'm sure we'll be doing rotator cuff surgery in a couple years if not sooner. It's just slowly getting worse, not better. He sure doesn't complain though. He can't sleep on his left side yet because of the ribs, but, he can sleep for longer periods of time on his right or back.
Side note: He was called in to the YM's presidency and assistant scout leader a couple months ago. Are you kidding me?!? It has him busy. But, It is a good kind of busy.
No new truck or car yet. That stuff just seems to work out somehow. We'll find something sooner or later. I had no idea the paper work involved with an auto accident. Or the loop holes to crawl thru. But, I'm learnin'. There has been several silver linings to all this and I'll said it before and I'll say it again,
I'm blessed and highly favored with the Lord.

I muddle

Okay, so I've figured out that for the most part, I muddle thru life, and people can't really tell. I don't do high maintenance and can't pretend like I have it all together. If I have a day where I'm really at the top of my game, I rise above muddling. But, for the most part. I muddle thru life and it's my comfort zone. I like it. I don't need to fix everything. I don't need to stress about a lot. Muddling. It's for me.

Dang it, Sam got hit

Ok, so, Sam was coming home from the farm and dang it, he got hit by a big white truck.

I have photo's of him in the hospital and a couple in the E.R. But I can't get my camera to cooperate!! Is it because I'm playing on the computer on the Sabbath? That's what I tell my kids. The short of a LONG story is, we just brought him home today, the wreck was Friday afternoon, and in 6? weeks, we won't even remember all this. Yeah whatever. He has 4 broken ribs in front, for you medical people, it's #2-5, and one in the back. Ha, I'm holding my breath while typing. It ripped his ear in half horizontally, and then because of the glass and drivers rear view mirror (on the outside) and other misc. debris he has 70+ stitches. We lost count. But, I do know that they went through 13 suture kits. He is so sore and tired, but still wants to take a drive down to the farm tonight before dark. Ya think? I'm just gonna let him keep on sleepin' and try to get down there tomorrow.

Marie Barone, I mean, his mother forgot his name and called him "my baby" through all this. I thought it was kinda cute.

Any who, we had way more help and offers than we could handle and I am doing that~ "I'm blessed and highly favored" moment. The boys had my neighbor bring them to the hospital and she stopped to get them some lunch and they thought they had hit the jack pot because she ordered them a "real" lunch, NOT from the kids menu. It's all they've talked about. Cracks me up.

Sam's sister Sally took DJ and Ben for a couple days so that it's one , well, or two less things to worry about. Jackson is not feeling well and I kept him home. Poor kid has a fever and doing hallucinations. They told me it was a virus. Well, ok.

So, as soon as I can put up pictures of Sam sitting in a hospital bed I will. The other stuff, his elbow bone sticking out while the two Dr's discuss what in the world they are going to do to sew it together, I thought that might be to much for this kind of a family show:0

Thanks to soooo many family and friends for the prayers and thoughts and wishes of good luck. Sam believes that the blessing he got in the E.R. was the reason for having no broken bones. I would lean that direction too, except that the man drinks about 1/2 gallon or more of milk everyday. I'll all about the spiritual miracle and all, but common sense has it's place too:)
......I'll work on the camera

Lagoon Day

So, DJ got to go to Lagoon for the day with school, but,... we wanted to go toooooo.
So, I checked Ben and Jackson out and we all went. They have a photo place and I couldn't resist. They chose what costume to wear and I loved it.
Twins? Ya think?
I'm feeling brother vs. brother!
I couldn't get the boys on anything but the bumper cars. No roller coasters. Well no, they loved the carousel, the weenies. We met up with DJ when they closed the park and it was time to go. He is a roller coaster kid! I love my kids. I do.

Memorial Day '08

Clean~ or~ Blog? Clean or Blog? clean or blog. Not a tough choice.
Preschool is out, but my boys are still in school for the rest of this week. So, I'm home alone. Ahhhhhhhh. No, I'm not staying home to clean. It will be... blog, read, shop, and then home.
Any who,
Memorial Day. Yet again, no camera. Didn't even think to bring the #**% camera along.
Yes, input a word from the bible. We went to the Benjamin Cemetery and watched the 2 minute program and had a good visit with old friends and neighbors. Stopped at Great grma and grnpa Stewart's grave sight. Went to the Spanish Fork Cemetery, hit the Francis side. Then we went to the Springville Evergreen Cemetery to pay our respects to DJ's Dad's grave. We stayed for the 45 minute program that was very well done. Had more friends and neighbors to visit with. Walked around and talked about different people in that cemetery. The boys went to the car and Sam and I relaxed and enjoyed the spirit that was there. There is something about honoring the military that just feels right. No, I won't be voting for Obama. We came home and had a nice day with just our family. A couple card games, yard work, and great FHE night. And for us, that's saying something.

Ward 50's Sock Hop

Gmail - P5170055.jpg
Our Ward had a 50's Sock Hop and since I believe that you can never have enough blue eye shadow, I was all over it!!! Ben had the cig's in his sleeve, Sam had his pants rolled up one, well, I guess all the boys did. With white socks and black shoes of coarse. I had my Rock-n-Roll Poodle skirt on and we danced the night away. They had a bubble gum blowing contest etc. that not one of us won:)

Sunday, May 04, 2008

Spring has sprung, no really this time!

Sam is putting in a garden for us and has planted peas etc. but in order to do that he had to build a retaining wall. These little projects always look good on paper....
needless to say, the boys weren't much help
